Due to the complex nature of UNIX, make sure that you are familiar with your system before continuing. If you have any questions about installation, please contact your system administrator. The basic installation is as follows; this may not work for all users.

Create a file called .forward in your home directory. The contents of the file are as follows:

\username,
"| finger nm_notifyuser@machinename.company.com"

Where you will replace username with your login name on your UNIX machine and you will replace machinename with the name associated with your machine's IP address or DNS name. Do NOT change nm_notifyuser...this is important or NotifyMail will not notify you of new mail.
